This information was reported by "Crimean Solidarity", citing the prisoner’s wife, Zera Zeynetdinova, as conveyed by Ukrinform.
"In May 2024, Rustem Seytmemetov suffered a myocardial infarction, after which he underwent heart bypass surgery. A few months later, the condition of the political prisoner worsened, and the administration decided to transfer him to the prison hospital. Doctors conducted an examination of Seytmemetov, which resulted in him being assigned a third group disability status and subsequently returned to the colony. Now, the political prisoner must undergo annual examinations to confirm his diagnosis and maintain his disability status," the report states.
According to his wife, he had no heart issues prior to his arrest.
It is noted that Rustem Seytmemetov frequently suffers from high blood pressure and cataracts, conditions that were not present before his arrest. Following a medical examination, the political prisoner was prescribed medication; however, most of it is not included in the list of permitted medications within the prison's medical unit.
In addition to health problems, Seytmemetov is facing difficulties in obtaining religious literature. He was sent a translated Quran from home for reading, which he submitted to the operational unit for inspection, but he has not received the book back.
As previously reported, Rustem Seytmemetov was detained on March 11, 2020, in Bakhchisarai.
On October 29, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found the defendants in the "Bakhchisarai Case of Hizb ut-Tahrir" guilty of "attempted violent seizure of power" and "participation in a terrorist organization." Rustem Seytmemetov was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Earlier, Ukrinform reported that political prisoner Rustem Seytmemetov was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes.
