As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced by the Patrol Police of Kyiv in a Telegram post.
“There is information circulating online about the alleged initiation of automatic recording and fines for drivers without 'insurance'. This information is not accurate,” the post states.
The law enforcement officials explained that there are currently no legal grounds for the application of auto-fixation for such violations. Additionally, the auto-fixation system is not technically adapted for this purpose at present.
“This issue will be addressed both technically and normatively, and we will inform citizens in advance through official sources about the commencement of automatic recording of such violations,” the Patrol Police of Kyiv assured.
At the same time, drivers were reminded that, as before, police can record this violation during the stop of the vehicle. Therefore, it is essential to have the policy in place, as this is not only a legal requirement but also a matter of safety.
As previously reported, the Patrol Police plan to discontinue the use of terminals for on-the-spot fine payments by drivers in the future.
