He aspired to the status of a "cool" writer, whose works tackle serious and even timeless issues, say his colleagues from the literary community.

"34-year-old modernist poet Oleksiy Bespaltsyev fell during a combat mission in the Kharkiv region," reported PEN Ukraine's press service on December 25 on Facebook. Before serving in the Kharkiv area, Oleksiy defended the Pokrovsk direction.

He was a Kharkiv poet and prose writer, known for his emotional performances. During his lifetime, he managed to publish two collections of short stories and participated in numerous literary slams.

"Among the Kharkiv creative 'youth', among all these poets with strong voices, pathos, and student (often adolescent) texts, there are occasionally true talents, some of whom extend far beyond an ordinary literary evening. Oleksiy Bespaltsyev claims the status of a cool writer whose works address serious, even eternal issues," wrote about the poet on the Bukvoid portal.

In PEN Ukraine, one of the artist's acquaintances is quoted: "He wouldn’t want us to all be sad. He was cheerful and energetic. He always loved movies, music, poetry, trash, having a drink, and riding his bike. He was and will always be the best. The best President of Kharkiv, the King of Kharkiv trash and the underground — Oleksiy ‘Shlyapa’ Bespaltsyev."

A friend of the fallen, Vlad Nafta, briefly expressed her thoughts on his creativity: "Bespaltsyev was a unique prose writer. He had a completely original style."

The deceased held the position of officer, as shared by his friend and comrade from another unit, Serhiy Naumenko.
