The "Market Operator" has announced the first auctions for green energy certificates.

On October 21, the first trading of guarantees of origin for energy from renewable sources will take place at the market platform of the State Enterprise "Market Operator."

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the company's press service.

"On October 21, 2024, at 15:00, the first trading in Ukraine for the sale of guarantees of origin of electricity produced from renewable energy sources will occur at the platform of the State Enterprise 'Market Operator.' The declared sales volume is 50,000 guarantees, equivalent to 50,000 MWh of produced electricity," the statement says.

The initiator of the trading is the Public Joint Stock Company "Ukrhydroenergo." The price will be formed based on the comparison of the initiator's proposal with the overall demand curve for guarantees of origin from buyers.

As previously reported, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange plans to launch the first trading of guarantees of origin for energy from renewable sources in November.

On October 10, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) issued the first guarantees of origin for energy produced from renewable sources. The recipient was Public Joint Stock Company "Ukrhydroenergo."

Guarantees of origin are a European mechanism for virtually labeling energy produced from renewable sources.
