According to Ukrinform, this information is reported by “Yellow Ribbon” on Telegram, citing resistance movement activists.
“Russians are stealing and reselling cars from local residents in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson,” the message states.
Activists of the movement report mass reselling of Ukrainian cars from these temporarily occupied areas. Both abandoned vehicles and those whose owners are unable to defend themselves are at risk. Even old "Zaporozhets" cars, primarily used by pensioners in villages, are being resold.
“Yellow Ribbon” explains that sometimes cars are simply taken away, but mostly they are bought for a pittance — especially when the owner is reluctant to part with them. The occupiers employ blackmail, exploit people's dire financial situations, and take advantage of the overall lawlessness in the temporarily occupied territories.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Russian military personnel at checkpoints threaten to confiscate vehicles for the needs of the so-called special military operation if they are not registered under Russian law.
