The farewell evening took place at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York. In his speech, the president of the UCC emphasized Kyslytsia's unwavering dedication to Ukraine's interests on the international stage.
Many ambassadors and colleagues of Kyslytsia attended the event to express their gratitude, as Farion shared.
“The diplomat of diplomats – knowledgeable, eloquent, with a striking sense of humor and steadfast energy, which we all witnessed during his five years of service to Ukraine. He is respected and loved by everyone who had the honor to collaborate with him – diplomats, diaspora representatives, and others,” said the UCC vice president.
In turn, Serhiy Kyslytsia thanked the Ukrainian-American and Crimean Tatar communities for their ongoing support and assistance in their joint efforts for the benefit of Ukraine.
“In moments of despair, your determination and commitment allowed Ukraine's voice to be heard in parliaments, media, and on the streets around the world. Your dedication has shown that Ukraine is not just a battleground, but a nation of strong and courageous people who deserve freedom and a bright future,” said the diplomat.
Kyslytsia expressed special gratitude to veterans and volunteers. “Every action you take, every display of courage on the front lines and in communities under occupation is what keeps our nation together,” he said.
The diplomat admitted that there were times when the scale of our challenges as a nation felt insurmountable.
“But even then, I found strength in our unity. It is this unity – among Ukrainians at home and abroad, between governments and civil society, between military personnel and artists, between partners and allies – that has helped Ukraine endure,” he said.
Recall that on December 21, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Serhiy Kyslytsia from his position as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, as well as from his roles as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago concurrently.
Serhiy Kyslytsia took office as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN in 2020.
