German partners have provided the city of Zaporizhzhia with a powerful cogeneration unit.

The Vilyansk community in the Zaporizhia region has received a cogeneration plant, supported by German partners, which will provide heating and electricity to hundreds of households, schools, kindergartens, and hospitals.
Немецкие партнеры передали городу Запорожье мощную когенерационную установку.

This was reported on Telegram by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

“Heat for Vilniansk: together we strengthen energy security. Thanks to cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Vilniansk community has received a cogeneration unit,” he noted.

According to Fedorov, it will provide heating and electricity to 768 households and ensure stable operation for 13 institutions – schools, kindergartens, and hospitals.

The gas-powered cogeneration unit is capable of maintaining boiler operation even during power outages.

“In a city with centralized heating, this is crucial for residents of high-rise buildings,” the head of the regional administration emphasized.

He added that overall, in 2025, there are plans to expand decentralized generation in Zaporizhzhia to 130 MW to enhance energy security and ensure stability for the entire region.

As Ukrinform reported, the selection of projects has begun within the framework of the “Ukraine Recovery Program III,” for which the European Investment Bank will provide 100 million euros. One of the priority areas of this stage of the program implementation will be the diversification of heat supply – the so-called distributed generation.
