Prices for white cabbage have risen in Ukrainian markets and stores. This week, the cost is 15% higher than at the end of last week. Reports TSN. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
Analysts from the portal EastFruit have reported this.
Ukrainian producers are offering cabbage for sale at prices ranging from 34 to 40 UAH per kilogram. This vegetable has once again become the most expensive among all items in the borscht set.
It is noted that by the end of January, many producers had sold off a large part of their cabbage stocks. Additionally, the market is now almost devoid of vegetables of medium and low quality.
"Given the sharp decrease in cabbage stocks on farms, farmers have started to hold back on selling quality vegetables. This has led to another price spike this week," the publication states.
Currently, prices for white cabbage in Ukraine are on average 3.7 times higher than in the same period last year.
As reported, the price of a popular citrus fruit has sharply increased in Ukraine. Mandarins are being supplied from Turkey, Spain, Egypt, Greece, and Italy. In January, weather conditions in the producing regions significantly complicated the harvest.
