In the past day, there were 184 clashes at the front, with the highest number of attacks repelled in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions.

On the frontline yesterday, January 5, there were 184 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. The fiercest battles are occurring in the Pokrovsk direction, with intense fighting also reported in the Kursk direction.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.

The Russians launched three missile strikes against the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using four missiles, as well as conducted 65 airstrikes, dropping 99 KABs. Additionally, they carried out 5484 shellings, including 188 from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed over 2900 kamikaze drones for strikes.

The enemy carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of populated areas including Velykyi Prykil, Odradne, Kup'yansk-Vuzlovyi, Hlushkivka, Kivsharivka, Raihorodka, Kopanky, Zarichne, Predtechyne, Kostiantynivka, Dachne, Sukha Balka, Andriivka, Ulakly, Velyka Novosilka, Temyrivka, and Novopavlivka.

The aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces delivered 26 strikes on areas where Russian army personnel were concentrated, hitting four drone control points, three air defense systems, and five artillery units of the Russians.

According to the General Staff, in the Kharkiv direction, there were two unsuccessful Russian attacks near Vovchansk.

In the Kup'yansk direction, four enemy attacks occurred over the day. The Defense Forces repelled the assault actions of the Russians near Zahryzovyi.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 12 times, attempting to advance near Nadiia, Tverdokhlibovyi, Zarichne, Novoserhiyivka, and Pershotravneve.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops launched seven attacks in the area of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Predtechyne.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted 12 attacks near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Krymske.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian forces stopped 51 assault and offensive actions of the Russians in the areas of Yelyzavetivka, Vozdvizhenska, Myrolubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasyliivka, Novoyelyzavetivka, and Yaseneve.

In the Kurakhiv direction, the Defense Forces repelled 27 attacks, with the enemy focusing their efforts in the areas of Slovyanka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian invaders conducted 13 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Yantarne, Novyi Komar, Novodarivka, and in the direction of Constantinople. The enemy actively used aviation for strikes in this area.

In the Dnipro direction, the Russians unsuccessfully attacked the positions of the Defense Forces once.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of the enemy forming offensive groupings were detected, according to the General Staff.

Along the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian army is using artillery and drones from its territory against areas of Ukrainian populated places.

The Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The Russian aviation is striking its own territory with guided aerial bombs. Reports indicate eight airstrikes using 14 KABs and 445 artillery shellings. Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled 47 attacks from the Russian army in this direction.

As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of the Russian troops in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to January 6, 2024, amount to approximately 798,040 individuals, including 1,550 for the past day.
