According to official information, law enforcement has arrested more than a thousand illegal immigrants, reports Ukrinform citing CNN.
“The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Monday that it had carried out at least 1179 arrests,” the statement said.
The raids began on Sunday across the country – in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Miami, and other cities. On the first day, ICE officially reported 956 arrests.
Overall, according to the agency's statistics, arrests of illegal migrants occur regularly. Last year, under the administration of Joe Biden, ICE detained approximately 113,400 illegal immigrants over 12 months. This is about 310 arrests per day.
As reported by Ukrinform, U.S. President Donald Trump immediately after his inauguration made strengthening the southern border of the United States and deporting illegal immigrants a priority.
