During a meeting of the coalition leaders' group, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration, Serhiy Boyev, stated this, as reported by Ukrinform, referencing the Ministry of Defense's press service.
“The formation of roadmaps will help our partners better understand the needs of Ukraine's defense forces and the possibilities for meeting those needs. The coalition support format allows for flexible use of available resources and planning. In December, we expect the approval of our joint plans for receiving assistance in the coming years,” Boyev explained.
As noted, the main topic of the meeting was the status of the formation of coalition capability roadmaps and the prospects for their implementation. The documents are being developed within each of the 8 coalitions and outline the current and medium-term needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces for international military assistance.
Boyev pointed out that the primary current need of the Defense Forces is equipping Ukrainian brigades with modern Western military equipment and providing quality training for personnel. He also emphasized that assistance within the coalitions aims to ensure the implementation of the Victory Plan.
During the meeting, representatives of the coalition leaders discussed the current status of work in each coalition: the next planned steps to expedite assistance and the blockers where additional support is needed from other participants. The leaders also reported on the joining of new participating countries that have already signed letters of intent to join or are in the process of signing.
The meeting of the coalition leaders' group included representatives from the USA, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Luxembourg. Partners continue to focus their main efforts on implementing previously announced assistance.
The capability coalitions, formed nearly a year ago, are intended to become the primary tool for creating military assistance packages from partner countries. The coalition cooperation format helps respond swiftly to the urgent needs of the Defense Forces while ensuring long-term capacity development.
As reported by Ukrinform, the coalition for demining has agreed to procure €22 million worth of supplies to support the needs of the State Special Transport Service and the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This includes the purchase of pickups and trucks for the needs of the Armed Forces.
