China has imposed tariffs on certain American goods in retaliation for U.S. sanctions.

In response to the 10% tariffs imposed by the United States that came into effect on Tuesday, the Chinese government has implemented increased duties on several categories of American goods, restricted the export of essential components for chip production, and placed two major U.S. companies on its "blacklist."
Китай ввел пошлины на ряд американских товаров в ответ на санкции со стороны США.

The introduction of tariffs is mentioned in a statement by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, as reported by Ukrinform.

According to the document, in response to the 10% tariffs imposed by the United States, the Chinese government is implementing a 15% duty on American coal and LNG, and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural equipment, and certain automobiles.

The new tariffs on imports from the United States will take effect on February 10.

Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce of China and its customs administration announced that, to "protect national security interests," the country is establishing export controls on tungsten, tellurium, ruthenium, molybdenum, and items related to ruthenium.

These metals, of which China is the largest producer globally, are critically essential in modern industries such as semiconductor manufacturing and green energy generation equipment.

The trade office also declared the addition of a major American clothing manufacturer and owner of several well-known brands, including Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, PVH Group, and the American biotechnology company Illumina Inc., which develops, manufactures, and sells comprehensive systems for analyzing genetic variation and biological functions, to its "blacklist" of unreliable organizations.

It is noted that these two companies violated market trading principles, engaged in discriminatory practices against Chinese manufacturers, and caused them significant harm; thus, the Chinese government will restrict their operations in the Chinese market.

As reported by Ukrinform, immediately after the announcement by President Donald Trump's administration of a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, the Ministry of Commerce of China stated its intention to challenge the U.S. administration's decision in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to implement countermeasures, without specifying what they would be.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his administration plans to negotiate with China, which may result in delaying the implementation of the 10% tariff on Chinese goods, similar to the postponement of tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico.
