Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina has advanced to the semifinals of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament - Brisbane International presented by Evie - in Brisbane, Australia, with a prize pool exceeding $1.736 million.
In the quarterfinals, Kalinina achieved a hard-fought victory over Australian Kimberley Birrell with scores of 4:6, 6:1, 7:5, according to Ukrinform.
The Ukrainian will compete for a spot in the finals against "neutral" Polina Kudermetova, who defeated American Ashlyn Krueger with scores of 7:6 (7:5), 6:3.
This will mark Kalinina's sixth semifinal match in her career, where she will vie for her third WTA final.
The tournament in Brisbane will conclude on January 5.
