Генсек ООН призывает провести «неформальную встречу» для обсуждения кипрской проблемы.
It is essential to "critically assess the progress" in addressing the Cyprus issue, particularly through an informal, broader meeting with both sides and the guarantor states.

This was stated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as reported by Ukrinform, referencing Hürriyet Daily News.

"It is important to critically evaluate the next steps through an informal, broader meeting with both sides and the guarantor states... I urge all relevant stakeholders to seriously consider ensuring that further interactions, which have given Cypriots hope that a mutually acceptable way forward is still possible, remain open and constructive," António Guterres said.

As is known, in July of this year, the term of the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy to Cyprus, Maria Angela Olguín Cuéllar, came to an end. Following her six-month tenure, she prepared a report stating that despite Cuéllar's efforts, "no common ground" was found between the leaders of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the Greek Cypriot administration regarding further actions on the Cyprus issue.

The report also mentions that "the leaders agreed to hold an informal meeting in a broader format under the auspices of the Secretary-General to discuss further actions."

Meanwhile, the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) report indicates that violations from both sides continue, yet they show a willingness for more regular dialogue.

It is worth noting that on October 15, Guterres organized an informal dinner with TRNC President Ersin Tatar and the leader of the Greek Cypriot community, Nikos Christodoulides, in New York.
