Drones have targeted one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, according to media reports.

On the night of Wednesday, January 29, drones targeted the "Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez" plant in the Kstovo region of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (Russia).

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Russian BBC service.

The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, confirmed the occurrence of a drone attack in the Kstovo area.

He stated that "debris from a downed drone" fell onto the territory of one of the enterprises in the Kstovo industrial zone, resulting in a fire.

The Telegram channel Astra reports that preliminary data indicates a refinery in Kstovo was hit. A fire has started there.

The Kstovo plant "Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez" is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia.

In the spring of 2024, it had already suffered a drone attack.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of January 26, drones attacked again the Ryazan oil refinery (NPZ), causing a large-scale fire.
