According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko.
"The Astrakhan gas processing plant has been attacked. This is one of the key energy facilities in the Russian Federation, responsible for processing gas condensate and producing gasoline, diesel fuel, and more," he wrote.
Kovalenko noted that the plant affects Russia's military-industrial complex, as the fuel and energy sector is the primary source of funding for the defense industry.
According to Russian Telegram channels, drones attacked the gas processing plant near Astrakhan. Local residents reported anti-aircraft defense activity and signs of fire at the site following the drone strike.
The Astrakhan gas processing plant is located at the Astrakhan gas condensate field and processes natural gas and gas condensate.
As reported by Ukrinform, the largest Russian petrochemical holding "Sibur" announced that after the attack by Ukrainian drones on January 29 at the oil refinery in the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region, product shipments from this facility have been halted.
