The program to compensate businesses for jobs held by individuals with disabilities has been expanded.

The Cabinet of Ministers has expanded the program for compensating the arrangement of workplaces for individuals with disabilities. From now on, self-employed individuals and sole proprietors who are people with disabilities will also be eligible for compensation.

The government made the relevant decision during a meeting on February 21.

"Employers will also be able to receive compensation for arranging a workplace for a veteran employee returning from war with a disability," noted First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

Since the beginning of 2025, the state has compensated businesses for the arrangement of nearly 300 workplaces under this program, investing 16 million hryvnias in accessibility.

The Cabinet of Ministers has also expanded the list of assistive devices eligible for compensation under the program. The list now includes technical devices, software, and services that facilitate translation to/from Ukrainian sign language both offline and online.

What is known about the program

The program providing compensation to employers for arranging workplaces for persons with disabilities was launched in August 2023. As of January 1, 2025, the compensation amount will be up to 120 thousand hryvnias for arranging workplaces for individuals with disabilities of the I group, and up to 80 thousand hryvnias for individuals with disabilities of the II group.

In 2024, over 1500 entrepreneurs took advantage of the program, creating nearly 2000 workplaces for persons with disabilities. The state compensated businesses for expenses totaling 129 million hryvnias.

It is worth noting that recently the government made a decision to prohibit sending persons with disabilities to military medical commissions for medical examinations.
