It is unlikely that airports in Ukraine will reopen before the end of the war. TSN reports. This information was shared by Kontrakty.UA.
Military expert and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Roman Svitan, discussed this during a broadcast on KIEV24.
Svitan cited the example of Ben Gurion Airport in Israel but noted that the situation there is different. The airport and all the aircraft are equipped with powerful defense systems.
According to the expert, the main dangers during flights in wartime are glide paths (the trajectories of flight before landing) and takeoff paths. This is because the aircraft operates at low speeds near the ground, making them easy targets for any MANPADS.
It is worth recalling that Lviv's mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, stated that several airports in Ukraine are expected to resume operations this year, as "there are technical and other possibilities" for this, although he did not specify which airports he was referring to.
