The question of reopening the airport in Lviv should be discussed by security experts. However, at least one airport in the country should be operational.
This was stated by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi in an interview with RBK-Ukraine. This information was reported by Kontrakty.UA.
As Sadovyi noted, there are issues of state security and the safety of people. "We must survive under any circumstances, which is why this topic is being discussed among experts," he said.
The Mayor of Lviv announced that journalists will be the first to know if a decision is made regarding the airport's reopening.
"There are many airports in Ukraine, and I believe that during the war, at least one of them should be operational," Sadovyi stated.
It is worth recalling that in 2023, there was considerable discussion about the possibility of reopening one of the airports in Ukraine, with Lviv being considered as one option. In particular, the potential reopening of Lviv Airport was discussed as a model based on the grain corridor.
In July of last year, the leadership of Ryanair visited Ukraine and held negotiations with the management of Boryspil Airport about resuming flights after the war ends. The airline's executive director mentioned at that time that Ryanair could resume flights in Ukraine by the end of 2023.
At the beginning of 2024, Ukraine officially begins negotiations with regulators in the USA and the European Union regarding the resumption of passenger air travel in our country.
