This is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the order from the State Aviation Service and an exclusive comment from the press service of "Nova Poshta". This information is also provided by Contracts.UA.
Order from the State Aviation Service
According to the order from the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Supernova Airlines has been granted the right to operate flights: Lviv - Prague - Lviv and Kyiv - Prague - Kyiv.
This right will come into effect on November 1 and has no expiration date.
At the same time, "Nova Poshta" indicated that on September 18, the first flight was conducted with their own Boeing 737-800SF aircraft under the flag of Ukraine. The purpose of this flight was to obtain an operator's certificate, which allows the initiation of their own cargo air services.
On October 17, Supernova Airlines received permission from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for flights within Europe.
"This means that the company will be able to conduct commercial flights in the skies of the European Union, with final preparations ongoing," noted the NP.
What this permission means
As explained by RBK-Ukraine in the NP press service, to fly immediately after the opening of Ukrainian airspace, it is necessary to obtain a commercial permit.
"Obtaining this permit means that we will be able to operate on the specified routes as soon as it becomes procedurally possible - that is, when the airspace is opened," the company clarified.
Thus, there is currently no discussion of a partial opening of Ukraine's airspace.
Ukrainian airspace remains closed
It is worth noting that Ukraine's airspace was closed following the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russian occupiers. This means that civil aviation flights in the country are currently impossible.
In 2023, then-Deputy Head of the Office of the President Andriy Sibiga, who has recently become the Minister of Foreign Affairs, assured that the first airport to reopen in Ukraine will be "Boryspil".
