The appeal upheld the prison sentence for the former official of the State Export Control Service.

The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has upheld the sentence of Serhiy Holovaty, the former deputy director of the Department of State Expertise at the State Export Control Service.

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has upheld the verdict against former Deputy Director of the Department of State Expertise of the State Export Control Service, Serhii Holovaty.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office on Facebook.

On January 2, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court supported the position of the SAP prosecutor and maintained the ruling of the High Anti-Corruption Court from December 22, 2023, which found the former official guilty of demanding a bribe of 250,000 dollars and receiving part of these funds (part 4 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced him to 10 years and 6 months in prison, with a three-year ban on holding managerial positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative, or economic functions.

The former official was also stripped of his seventh rank as a civil servant, with the confiscation of all property belonging to him, including 42,950 dollars and two gold bars weighing 5 grams each.

According to the case materials, Holovaty, while serving as Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the State Expertise Department for International Transfers of Control Equipment, Electrical Equipment, and Dual-Use Goods at the State Export Control Service, demanded 250,000 dollars in unlawful benefits from a company.

In exchange for this amount, he promised to make decisions in favor of the company regarding its registration as an entity for the international transfer of goods subject to state export control and to provide permission for the export of dual-use goods abroad.

At the time of his arrest by law enforcement, he had received 125,000 dollars, which were seized from his residence and in his vehicle.

As previously reported, the former Deputy Director Holovaty is accused of extorting a bribe for granting permission to export dual-use goods to Russia from representatives of LLC "Motordetal-Konotop".
