Акция «Спасите украинских пленных» пройдет в Женеве на конференции Красного Креста.
The public organization "Voyaćky Vyzvil" along with other associations of families of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing defenders will hold a rally in Geneva, Switzerland, and will publicly address the ICRC.

The action titled "Save Ukrainian Captives. Find the Missing" is set to take place at the Place des Nations on October 29 at 17:30, as reported by Ukrinform referencing a post on Telegram from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

It is noted that from October 28 to 31, Geneva will host the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which occurs once every four years. "At such a gathering, delegates of the global Red Cross movement are expected to discuss both their successes and the challenges hindering the effective functioning of the organization," the statement reads.

The Coordination Headquarters pointed out that the conference organizing committee refused to discuss the glaring issue of the ICRC's lack of access to illegal detention facilities in Russia, where Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians are held.

The organizers of the rally have repeatedly reached out to the ICRC's central office with proposals to address this issue. "The lack of access to places of detention for prisoners not only contradicts the Geneva Conventions and violates human rights, but also poses a danger to the lives of the captives," the post emphasizes.

This situation creates conditions for total impunity for Russia, as the Coordination Headquarters believes. It leads to systematic torture, abuse, and killings of Ukrainian prisoners, both military and civilian, as well as the concealment of their whereabouts or remains.

"Unfortunately, all these appeals have been ignored. Therefore, having traveled 2,500 kilometers, the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing defenders intend to directly address the participants of the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva to draw their attention to the catastrophic situation of Ukrainians in Russian captivity," the headquarters stressed, inviting all concerned individuals to stand in solidarity in the fight for lives.

As reported by Ukrinform, the European Union calls on Russia to adhere to international humanitarian law and cease executions and torture of Ukrainian prisoners. Russia is being demanded to grant immediate access for humanitarian organizations to the detained individuals.
