In the Zaporizhia region, aerial reconnaissance units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine eliminated the chief of staff of the "Storm.Ossetia" battalion of the Russian Armed Forces and his driver using FPV drones.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by GUR MO.

"On December 29, 2024, on the Vasylivka-Tokmak highway, the soldiers of the FPV unit of the active actions department of GUR MO Ukraine 'Kraken' eliminated the chief of staff of the 'Storm.Ossetia' battalion (an assault unit within the 429th motorized rifle regiment of the Russian Armed Forces) Sergey 'Kama' Melnikov and his driver," the report stated.

The intelligence officers of the active actions department of GUR obtained operational information that included details about the route and movement schedule of the chief of staff of the Russian terrorist forces in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region.

Using this data, the aerial reconnaissance units planned an FPV ambush for the leader of the Russian invaders.

"Initially, the drone operators skillfully frightened the driver of the UAZ 'Patriot' vehicle, in which Melnikov was traveling. The terrified Russian driver abruptly changed the trajectory, causing the vehicle to veer off into the ditch, after which the military scouts struck with a kamikaze drone head-on," GUR reported.

Both Russian invaders were eliminated, the intelligence officers emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, an explosion occurred in the settlement of Shuya in the Ivanovo region (RF) on January 3, which centered around the commander of the battery of the 112th missile brigade of the 1st tank army of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces (military unit 03333) Captain Nagayko, who was involved in the death of 59 people during a memorial service in the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region.
