The Trump administration dismissed prosecutors involved in the Capitol riot cases, according to the Associated Press.

On Friday, Donald Trump's administration dismissed a group of prosecutors involved in the criminal cases related to the Capitol riot and requested the names of FBI agents connected to those investigations so that they could be removed from their positions.
Администрация Трампа уволила прокуроров, участвовавших в делах о штурме Капитолия, сообщает АР.

This was reported by AP, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

According to the document obtained by the publication, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove ordered the dismissal of prosecutors involved in the investigation of the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

In a separate memo, Bove identified over fifty senior officials from the FBI who were ordered to be retired or dismissed by Monday, and he also requested the names and positions of all FBI employees who worked on the riot investigation—a list that, according to him, could number in the thousands. Bove, who was Trump's attorney, stated that officials from the Justice Department would then conduct an assessment to determine if any additional personnel decisions were needed.

The dismissed prosecutors were initially hired for temporary positions to investigate the riot cases, but they were later transitioned to permanent roles following Trump's victory in the November presidential election. Bove declared that he would not "tolerate subversive personnel actions from the previous administration."

The FBI Agents Association stated that the news of the agents' dismissal is "outrageous actions by current officials," which "fundamentally contradict law enforcement goals outlined by President Trump and his support for FBI agents."

"The dismissal of potentially hundreds of agents will severely undermine the Bureau's ability to protect the country from national security threats and criminal dangers and ultimately doom the Bureau and its new leadership to failure," the association's statement read.

On Thursday, during the confirmation hearing for the FBI Director position, Kash Patel stated that he was unaware of any plans to dismiss or otherwise punish FBI employees involved in these investigations.

Before being nominated for the director position, Patel publicly expressed at least once his views on "anti-Trump conspirators," whom he said needed to be eradicated.

For years, Trump has criticized the FBI and the Justice Department over investigations that overshadowed his presidency, particularly the investigation into Russian interference in his 2016 campaign, which lasted for the past four years.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Trump administration launched a "special project" to investigate the actions of prosecutors who handled cases against participants in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
