The U.S. administration recognizes the need to apply pressure on Russia to bring an end to the war, according to Kallas.

In an interview with DW, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated this, as reported by Ukrinform.

“They (the Americans - ed.) understand that to end this war, we must put pressure on Russia, as it is Russia that started this war,” Kallas noted.

She also highlighted the decisive stance of U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Russia.

“President Trump has been very firm in his statements about Putin. So I think we see the situation quite similarly,” Kallas remarked.

According to her, “everyone wants to end this war, but peace must be sustainable.”

“Everyone wants to finish this war because everyone desires peace. But it is also clear, as (U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio - ed.) said, that peace must be sustainable,” Kallas added.

As reported by Ukrinform, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he loves the Russian people and does not wish to harm Russia. However, he will have no other choice but to impose “high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions” on goods from Russia if Moscow does not agree to a peace deal in Ukraine.
