Убийство Фарион: дело переквалифицировано и передано в суд.
The suspect in the murder case of public figure Iryna Farion has had the classification of the crime changed to intentional murder connected with the performance of a public duty, motivated by national intolerance and illegal handling of weapons. The case materials have been forwarded to the court.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Facebook.

Prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro, accused of murdering public figure and member of the Ukrainian parliament of the 7th convocation Iryna Farion.

Based on the collected evidence, the actions of the accused have been reclassified. He is charged with intentional murder of a person connected with the performance of her public duty, motivated by national intolerance, as well as illegal possession of firearms (paragraphs 8, 14 of part 2 of Article 115, part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the National Police, in 2022, the suspect – an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro – became a member of a group in one of the messengers that promotes a cult of violence and cruelty, as well as racial, national, and religious intolerance and discrimination. Additionally, in 2024, he joined another group associated with a Russian neo-Nazi organization.

“While being in these groups, the suspect developed a personal animosity towards Iryna Farion due to her active stance on the protection of the Ukrainian language and culture. In the perpetrator's view, her actions were undermining national unity – this led him to form the intent to murder the public figure,” the police noted.

The suspect meticulously prepared for the crime – gathering confidential information about the victim's place of residence and work, conducting surveillance, and devising a detailed plan for her murder, as well as acquiring a firearm.

The perpetrator ambushed Farion on July 19 at around 19:20 in the yard of her home on Masaryka Street in Lviv. He approached the victim and fired a single shot to her head, after which he fled. A few hours later, the public figure died in the hospital due to the gunshot wound.

On July 25, law enforcement identified the location of the fugitive and apprehended him in Dnipro.

He faces life imprisonment.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the evening of July 19 in Lviv, an unknown assailant shot at Iryna Farion. She soon died in the hospital.

On July 25, the alleged suspect was arrested in Dnipro. The Halytskyi District Court of Lviv on July 26 selected a preventive measure of 2 months in custody without the right to bail for 18-year-old Dnipro resident Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who is suspected of murdering Iryna Farion.

The daughter of the deceased and the victims' defense demanded a reclassification of the charges, specifically replacing part one of the charge of intentional murder with part two, which allows for the possibility of life imprisonment.

On November 13, the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv extended the detention period for Zinchenko until January 12, 2025, without the right to bail.
