As reported by Ukrinform, this was stated by Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, in an interview with RBK-Ukraine.
“The plans of the Russian leadership are constantly being adjusted. Currently, the main objective set by the Russian Federation for 2025 is to seize the entire territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, fulfill the tasks of the so-called special military operation of the Russian Federation, and maintain control over the territories that have been captured (Kherson, Zaporizhzhia regions, and directly occupied Crimea),” Skibitskyi noted.
At the same time, according to him, if we talk about the Kremlin's global plans, they have remained unchanged since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992.
“To take control and have direct influence over our state has been one of the Kremlin's main objectives for many years. Ukraine is a powerful defense-industrial complex, an industry, with a sufficient human resource of Slavic population that shares a similar language and significant historical heritage over this entire period. Moreover, it is a vast territory that would allow the Russian Federation to create a so-called buffer zone along its borders with NATO countries,” Skibitskyi said.
As Ukrinform reported, over the past day, on March 2, there were 109 combat engagements involving Defense Forces against Russian invaders, with the enemy launching the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction and in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
