The President of the World Congress of Ukrainians (WCU), Pavlo Grod, participated in a meeting of the Permanent Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) held in Toronto, Canada.
Президент СКУ принял участие в заседании Постоянного Синода УГКЦ.

As reported by Ukrinform, this is mentioned in a statement from the UWC.

According to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, this meeting was historic, as the president of the UWC participated in the work of the Permanent Synod for the first time.

Pavlo Grod discussed with the Bishops of the UGCC the global challenges faced by Ukrainians due to the Russian war, particularly the fight against disinformation and conveying the truth about Ukraine's suffering to the international community. He also emphasized the importance of preserving Ukrainian identity, language, and culture worldwide.

Special attention was given to the role of the Church in strengthening connections among Ukrainians of different generations. Since church communities serve as places for shared prayer and faith, they can become a key factor in uniting people of all ages.

The Bishops, for their part, shared their thoughts on the Ukrainian communities in the countries where they serve, highlighting the importance of supporting conscious Ukrainian communities. Both sides expressed their willingness for further collaboration.

“The Church must be the heart of the Ukrainian community,” noted His Beatitude Sviatoslav, emphasizing the significance of active clergy participation in public life as a source of spiritual and social support.

We remind you that the president of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Pavlo Grod, expressed gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who resigned on December 16, 2024, for her unwavering support of Ukraine over many years.
