In the Patrol Police, there are plans to discontinue the use of terminals for on-the-spot fine payments by drivers in the future.

This was stated in an interview with "Ukrainian News" by Oleksii Biloshytskyi, the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department, as reported by Ukrinform.

In response to a question regarding the decreasing number of terminals with inspectors on the roads, he explained that there are now more police crews, and there is only one terminal for every two crews.

"That is 1 to 2. However, it should be mentioned that the terminal is already an outdated device in this case. There are now systems that we are implementing as a pilot project in several regions. For example, in the Chernivtsi region — we are working on this together with banking institutions, and in the future, we will not be using terminals," Biloshytskyi shared.

Instead of terminals, he mentioned that a phone will provide the necessary payment details. "Terminals are already a thing of the past. As of 2015, it was reasonable, but now there are new devices and systems that can be utilized. We do not want to increase the number of terminals; we want to transition directly to a new system that is more convenient for both citizens and police officers," the law enforcement officer stated.

The first deputy head of the Department also noted that currently, the police do not utilize "phantom" vehicles that can measure the speed of other vehicles in motion without visible identification marks.

"The system is very effective and very costly. It is delicate, so its storage must be appropriate. Phantoms are not being used at the moment. We will revisit this issue later," Biloshytskyi added.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law proposes to introduce "penalty points" for traffic violations in Ukraine and revoke driving rights in the case of repeated offenses.
